The first time I started seriously experimenting with Rokurou's huge moveset, which was pretty late on my first playthrough, the first impression I got was "What the hell, how do you even use this guy?" I understand why people get that impression though. Something worth mentioning here is that vast majority of his hidden artes have slightly slower start up animations, so it's usually more effective to open up a combo with a quick martial arte, and use his hidden artes when the enemies are already staggered from the previous hits.įrom what I've seen after reading through several different threads, a lot of players, especially the new ones consider Rokurou a very difficult character to play. Again he is extremely similar to Velvet in this particular regard. Rokurou has a really wide variety of elemental martial and hidden artes to choose from, to the point, where you will probably never need to use the same arte in the same 4 hit combo. Last arte is basically entirely optional, I used Form 6: Dark Vortex here, for it's dual elemental properties, as well as being able to pull in the enemies, that can help you extend certain combos, but you can really use anything here. Armor Crusher is a good non elemental lunge move, that is effective again'st armored foes and has good odds of stun and knockdown, and since it does not get used in the previously mentioned derivative combo, it makes sense to place the move here.įorm 2: Imbue Earth gets placed on the extra row as well, because there just wasn't any room to assign it on the main skill rows, and out of all Rokurou's artes it probably has the most out of combo usages. Placing Bone Breaker on the extra skill row makes the most sense, because holding it allows Rokurou to perform an automatic derivative, 4 hit non elemental combo, most melee characters have something similar. These are the main and extra skill row arte set ups for Rokurou that I would recommend. In my personal opinion, Rokurou and Velvet are basically tied as being the 2 strongest solo characters in the game. Just like Velvet, Rokurou uses martial artes and hidden artes and his most famous ability is of course his break soul, Vengeful Stance, which allows him to counter pretty much any type of attack, effectively making him invincible in the hands of a capable player. Hurricane Thrust, Jade Wave, Double Haze, Infernal Bloom just to name a couple of Rokurou's artes that are excellent examples of this. Reminds me a little bit of Yasuo from League of Legends, for those who play or used to play the game to get the reference. Rokurou is a really quick, heavily melee oriented character with access to multiple lunges and dashes, that not only allow him to gap close and stick onto his targets, but at the same time makes it really difficult for the enemies to pin him down and properly counterattack, because he is dashing around all over the place. So why should you learn how to play Rokurou? Anyway, without any further delay, let's get on with it. If you end up enjoying this character write up, you can also check my previous Eizen and Eleanor write ups. As per request of a few people that enjoyed my previous character mini- guides, this time I am going to be talking about Rokurou.
